Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a Team Attorney with a strong background in commercial real estate finance and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). This role offers an alternative to the traditional partnership track with reduced billable hours and minimal non-billable requirements. The position involves working directly with significant clients, abstracting securitization instruments, and providing support across a range of real estate finance transactions.

Duties

  • Abstract legacy, new issuance, and replacement special servicer securitization instruments using client-specific proprietary software.
  • Review and manage documentation related to CMBS, including pooling and servicing agreements, indentures, inter-creditor agreements, and co-lender agreements.
  • Collaborate with a team to provide comprehensive legal services in real estate finance.
  • Support one of the firm’s key clients, with potential to expand into other capital markets transactions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a focus on CMBS.
  • Familiarity with relevant documentation for CMBS transactions.
  • Experience in loan servicing transactions is advantageous.
  • Strong academic credentials and a proven track record in real estate finance.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in the jurisdiction of one of the specified office locations, or eligibility for reciprocity/waiver.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in handling complex CMBS transactions and related documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
