A law firm in Mountain View, CA is seeking an IP Patent Agent with 2-10 years of patent prosecution experience. The ideal candidate will possess advanced degrees in relevant technical fields, have passed the patent bar, and demonstrate superior technological knowledge and academic credentials. Excellent communication skills and a strong background in patent prosecution are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in various technical fields, including Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or Physics.
  • Conduct patentability searches and assessments to support clients’ innovation strategies.
  • Prepare and file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Respond to USPTO office actions, including drafting persuasive arguments and amendments.
  • Collaborate with inventors and clients to gather technical information and ensure accurate patent filings.
  • Assist with patent portfolio management and strategy development.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for patent litigation and opposition matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent law and regulations, as well as technological advancements in relevant fields.

Requirements:

  • 2-10 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Advanced degree (M.S. or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Passed the patent bar examination.
  • Superior technological background with strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Education:

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Physics, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Patent Bar Examination passed.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications and responding to office actions.
  • Strong technical background in relevant fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or Physics.
  • Superior knowledge of patent law and USPTO procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
