A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking a skilled and experienced Lateral Tax Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate must have a portable business of at least $1M and a proven track record of success in tax law.

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide strategic tax planning and advice to clients on a wide range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and international tax issues.
  • Represent clients in tax disputes and controversies before regulatory authorities and in litigation.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships to generate new business opportunities and expand the firm's tax practice.
  • Mentor and supervise junior tax attorneys and provide guidance on complex tax matters.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing tax law at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing in and maintaining a portable business of at least $1M.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

 

Certifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Tax Law specialization certification preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work product.
