Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic litigator for the role of Managing Attorney. This individual will take on a leadership role in overseeing and mentoring a team of attorneys, paralegals, and contract legal staff. The Managing Attorney will play a pivotal role in driving the firm's business and employment litigation practice forward. This position is ideal for a seasoned attorney with expertise in litigation, case strategy, and team management, ready to take on significant responsibilities and contribute to the firm’s growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage challenging litigation cases related to business and employment defense.
• Supervise paralegals and outside contract attorneys, ensuring effective case management.
• Assign cases and ensure proper workload distribution across the team.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to develop strategies for cases.
• Draft and argue motions, respond to discovery requests, and conduct/defend depositions.
• Lead settlement negotiations and mediations, guiding clients through complex decision-making.
• Serve as the primary attorney in civil trials and arbitrations.
• Provide clients with detailed legal advice on litigation risks and tactical options.
• Collaborate with the firm’s principal to shape case strategies and achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar with a clean disciplinary record.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business and civil litigation, particularly in business litigation and employment defense.
• Extensive experience in drafting discovery documents, taking and defending depositions, and serving as the first chair in civil trials.
• Solid understanding of civil procedure, evidence, and substantive law in business and employment litigation.
• Proven track record of handling multiple cases while meeting deadlines.
• Strong leadership experience, including team management and case assignment oversight.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
