The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in consumer financial regulations, including state and federal laws concerning payments, credit products, and unfair business practices. Experience with emerging financial technologies, mortgage lending, cryptocurrency, and digital assets is advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on consumer financial regulatory issues.
  • Advise clients on compliance with state and federal regulations about payments, credit products, and consumer protection laws.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, policies, and regulatory filings.
  • Represent clients in regulatory proceedings, audits, and investigations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on clients' business operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop compliance strategies and risk management protocols.
  • Provide training to clients and colleagues on regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Assist in business development initiatives and client relationship management.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Illinois or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • 4 years of relevant experience in consumer financial regulatory matters at a law firm or regulatory agency.
  • In-depth knowledge of consumer financial regulations, including Dodd-Frank Act, FCRA, FDCPA, and UDAAP laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience with FinTech, mortgage lending, cryptocurrency, or digital assets is a plus.
