Job Title: Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Portland, OR, is seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance coverage law, superior analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This role requires extensive legal research, drafting of substantial briefs, and regular client representation in court and other legal settings.

Duties:

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Regularly represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
• Travel as required.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in insurance coverage law is preferred.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admission to practice in Oregon; additional state admissions are a plus.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid research abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to self-manage and work effectively in a team environment.
• Prompt responsiveness to e-mail and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client relationship skills and telephone manners.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in Oregon; additional state bar admissions are advantageous.
