Patent Attorney

A law firm in Fairfax, VA, is seeking a Patent Attorney with a strong technical background to join their team. The ideal candidate should have experience in patent law and be either registered to practice before the USPTO or planning to sit for the registration exam.

Duties:

• Provide legal advice and counsel on matters related to patent law and intellectual property.
• Conduct patent searches and analyses to assess patentability and infringement issues.
• Prepare and file patent applications with the USPTO and international patent offices.
• Draft and review licensing agreements and other patent-related contracts.
• Represent clients in patent litigation and dispute resolution when necessary.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in patent laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to a state bar and in good standing.
• 1-8 years of experience in patent law.
• Strong technical background, including a bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Certifications:

• Registered to practice before the USPTO is preferred. Candidates planning to sit for the USPTO registration exam will also be considered.
