A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Attorney to handle a diverse range of legal matters, including international commercial litigation, appellate work, tax law, asset recovery, criminal defense, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. The role will involve serving clients across various industries such as construction, energy, mining, transportation (including aviation), and construction surety bonds.

Duties:

  • Manage and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance and favorable terms for clients.
  • Handle complex commercial litigation cases from inception through resolution.
  • Develop and maintain a book of business through client development and retention efforts.
  • Provide legal counsel on matters related to seized personnel and property recovery.
  • Represent clients in criminal defense matters and civil fraud investigations.
  • Utilize dispute resolution techniques including mediation and arbitration.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 5-7 years of experience in complex litigation and/or transactional law, preferably in a major law firm setting or government agency.
  • Experience with document management, conducting depositions, and trial practice.
  • Preference for candidates with prior experience as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA), or in the Criminal Division or Civil Fraud Division of the Department of Justice.
  • Federal judicial clerkship and/or federal trial experience is preferred.
  • High academic credentials and admission to the Bar in the District of Columbia; eligibility for admission to the federal district court of the District of Columbia is required.
