Job Overview

This position involves representing clients in complex immigration matters, managing a caseload, and providing legal counsel to individuals and families facing immigration-related challenges. The attorney will collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants to ensure quality service and strategic solutions for clients. The role also includes preparing legal documents and representing clients in court.

Duties

  • Represent individuals (both detained and non-detained) in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with clients to determine the best legal options.
  • Manage a diverse caseload involving removal defense, family-based petitions, and other immigration-related applications.
  • Visit detention centers to conduct client intake and gather case information.
  • Develop and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits or risks for clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, community organizations, and prosecutors on immigration law updates.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Proven experience handling family-based petitions, humanitarian applications, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and USCIS applications.
  • Strong case management skills and the ability to independently move cases forward.
  • Experience working with case management software (preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
