Civil Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Sherman Oaks is seeking a motivated Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with 1-10 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will be involved in all aspects of civil litigation, including discovery, settlement negotiations, drafting pleadings, and representing clients in court.

Duties:

• Conduct discovery activities, including issuing subpoenas, conducting witness interviews, and reviewing documents.
• Negotiate settlement agreements with opposing counsel and clients.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Prepare witnesses for court appearances and depositions.
• Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates and discuss developments.
• Perform legal research on issues relevant to ongoing cases.
• Interview witnesses and gather evidence to support legal arguments.
• Draft and submit legal briefs and motions to the court.
• Present cases in court, arguing facts and citing legal precedents.
• Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
• 1-10 years of litigation experience, with a focus on civil litigation.
• Experience drafting a variety of legal documents, including briefs, motions, and discovery requests.
• Familiarity with pre-trial preparation and trial procedures.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective client communication and courtroom advocacy.
• Experience with insurance defense cases is preferred but not required.

Preferred Certifications:

• No specific certifications required, but any relevant certifications in civil litigation or trial advocacy would be advantageous.
