Job Overview
A reputable law firm based in Chattanooga, TN, is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its team. This firm specializes in creditor’s rights and provides comprehensive services in consumer bankruptcy, including Chapters 7, 11, and 13. The ideal candidate will have a background in bankruptcy law, particularly in representing secured creditors, but the firm is also open to candidates with less experience, provided they demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and a team-oriented mindset.

Duties

  • Manage and oversee routine bankruptcy matters, primarily focusing on consumer Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings and claims associated with ongoing bankruptcy cases.
  • Attend and represent clients at scheduled bankruptcy hearings.
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to bankruptcy matters across the firm.
  • Review and process client filings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor all electronic filings (ECFs) and maintain accurate case records.
  • Resolve routine bankruptcy issues, including Motions for Relief, Objections to Confirmation, and Proofs of Claim.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court to ensure timely case progression.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in bankruptcy law, with a focus on creditor representation.
  • Familiarity with the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with clients and legal professionals.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in Tennessee or North Carolina.
  • Admission to practice before the bankruptcy courts in the state of Tennessee or North Carolina.
