Job Overview

A law firm located in Columbus, OH, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Labor and Employment Attorney with at least 2+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in employment litigation, although other civil litigation experience is also valued. Experience at a sophisticated law firm and clerkships are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in employment-related legal matters, including disputes, grievances, and claims.
  • Advise clients on employment laws and regulations related to labor unions, wage and hour issues, and workplace discrimination.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, and memoranda.
  • Prepare and present cases in court, including conducting depositions and negotiating settlements.
  • Stay updated on current labor and employment law trends and legal precedents.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to clients and collaborate with other attorneys and staff within the firm.
  • Manage case files and thoroughly document all legal proceedings and communications.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Ohio State Bar Association.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in labor and employment law, with a preference for employment litigation experience.
  • Experience in civil litigation is also valued.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a sophisticated law firm setting.
  • Previous clerkship experience.
