Job Overview:
A well-established, multi-state insurance defense firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in Purchase, NY. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and possess superior analytical and communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with room for advancement. Attorneys admitted in New York are encouraged to apply, and Connecticut admission is a plus but not required.

Location:

Duties:

  • Manage an independent caseload with oversight from senior partners
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses
  • Conduct legal research and write memorandums
  • Attend hearings and court conferences
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Participate in inspections and other case-related activities
  • Consult with expert witnesses
  • Attend mediations and assist in trial preparation
  • Provide overall litigation support through various stages of the case

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York (Connecticut license is a plus)
  • Defense litigation experience
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • New York Bar License (Required)
  • Connecticut Bar License (Preferred, but not required)

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents (motions, pleadings, discovery responses)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions
  • Knowledge of insurance defense, including general liability and coverage
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients, expert witnesses, and colleagues
