A law firm seeks a transactional Franchise & Distribution associate attorney to join its practice in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly regarded franchise law team, handling a diverse range of matters for clients across multiple industries. The ideal candidate will have experience with U.S. franchising regulations and a strong background in drafting franchise agreements and related regulatory documents.

Duties:

  • Draft and review franchise-related agreements and regulatory filings, including franchise disclosure documents.
  • Provide legal advice on complex business transactions within the franchise and distribution sector.
  • Counsel domestic and international clients on franchising matters.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys on both litigation and transactional franchise issues.
  • Support clients ranging from start-up franchisors to large-scale franchise operations, including private equity firms and foreign companies expanding into the U.S.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in transactional franchise law.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. franchising regulations.
  • Admission to practice law in Washington, DC, or eligibility for admission via waiver.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Washington, DC State Bar or eligibility for admission.
