Job Overview

A law firm seeks a driven and proactive Associate Attorney to join its litigation team in Agoura Hills, California. The firm focuses on representing plaintiffs in employment disputes (individual and class actions), personal injury cases, nuisance claims, and toxic mold litigation. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work directly with clients, manage key aspects of case development, and actively participate in litigation, including trial preparation and court appearances.

The ideal candidate will have between 0 to 5 years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked on the plaintiff side in employment law matters. The firm values attorneys who take initiative, enjoy hands-on litigation and want to develop trial advocacy skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Collaborate closely with clients to gather case details, develop legal strategies, and maintain ongoing communication.
  • Draft and oppose motions, including dispositive and procedural motions.
  • Take and defend depositions, including expert and party depositions.
  • Make regular court appearances for hearings, arguments, and case management conferences.
  • Assist senior attorneys with trial preparation, including witness prep, evidence management, and trial strategy.
  • Participate in arbitration hearings and trials, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Manage case files and deadlines, ensuring all litigation tasks are completed in a timely and organized manner.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on a variety of substantive legal issues.

Requirements

  • 0 to 5 years of experience handling litigation matters, preferably in plaintiff-side employment law.
  • Experience conducting depositions and arguing motions in court.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize casework and effectively manage time in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
  • Self-starter who thrives when allowed to work independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications
