Job Overview:

A respected law firm based in New York City, NY is actively seeking an experienced legal professional to join its practice focused on probate and estate matters. This hybrid role provides an opportunity to manage a wide range of responsibilities within estate administration while engaging with clients, courts, and internal teams. Ideal candidates will bring substantial experience in Surrogate Court proceedings and a deep understanding of probate law. Flexibility for occasional remote work is available, though the role is primarily office-based.

Duties:

  • Oversee comprehensive probate and estate administration processes from initiation through final settlement

  • Draft, review, and file legal documentation related to estate proceedings

  • Represent fiduciaries and beneficiaries in the Surrogate’s Court proceedings

  • Engage with clients to provide strategic legal guidance on estate matters

  • Coordinate with financial institutions, accountants, and other stakeholders regarding asset management and transfers

  • Conduct legal research on trust and estate-related statutes, regulations, and case law

  • Navigate tax implications associated with estate administration

  • Handle contested probate and administration proceedings as necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of focused experience in probate law and estate administration

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Surrogate’s Court procedures and filings

  • Proven record of drafting legal pleadings and managing client matters independently

  • Strong research and legal analysis abilities

  • Clear, articulate communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Adept at negotiating and resolving estate-related issues

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of New York

Skills:
