A law firm seeks an Associate to join its Public Contracts and Infrastructure team in New York City, NY. This role presents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated attorney with 1-5 years of experience in corporate transactional law, procurement, or government contracts. The ideal candidate will work on complex, large-scale public works projects across multiple sectors, including water, transportation, renewable energy, and social infrastructure. The position offers exposure to high-profile public sector clients and requires a strong interest in supporting innovative infrastructure delivery and public-private partnership agreements.

Duties:

  • Assist in representing public sector clients in procurement, contract negotiations, and large-scale public works projects.
  • Advise clients on complex procurement processes for infrastructure projects, including alternative delivery models and public-private partnerships.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal agreements related to public contracts, including construction, financing, and operational documents.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and public agency representatives to provide legal guidance on compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making related to the execution of infrastructure projects in the water, transportation, solid waste, and renewable energy sectors.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on emerging issues related to public contracts, procurement law, and public-private partnerships.
  • Assist in the development of proposals and support client relations through direct communication.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in corporate transactional law, procurement, or government contracts.
  • Demonstrated interest in public sector law, infrastructure projects, and public-private partnerships.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience drafting complex contracts.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality legal services to public clients in a collaborative environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in public contracts, government procurement, and infrastructure law.
  • Knowledge of public-private partnership structures and alternative project delivery methods.
  • Proficient in legal research, drafting contracts, and contract negotiation.
