Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its expanding Personal Injury team within the Single Event department. This role requires an attorney with extensive experience in personal injury law, including sensitive cases such as those involving sexual abuse. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a high-paced environment and collaborate closely with experienced partners, particularly in mass tort cases. Candidates must be comfortable managing a large caseload, conducting legal research, and preparing for trial.

Duties

  • Assist with trial preparations and collaborate on mass tort cases.
  • Draft detailed legal memoranda and complex documents.
  • Manage a large docket of personal injury cases across multiple states.
  • Evaluate the merits of potential cases and provide legal analysis.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies.
  • Perform document review and draft/respond to discovery.
  • Defend and take depositions, including those of expert witnesses.
  • Assist in preparing expert reports and trial-related documents.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, clients, and other parties to facilitate the legal process.
  • Track and manage statute of limitations (SOL) deadlines.
  • File legal documents electronically in both state and federal courts.
  • Perform additional legal duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal injury law, with experience in handling sensitive cases such as sexual abuse.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Comfortable working overtime and traveling when required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Experience with court proceedings and depositions is desirable.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Colorado and good standing with the state bar.

Skills

  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple cases.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-volume environment.
  • Familiarity with e-filing in state and federal courts.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
