A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, this role involves managing a diverse caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of immigration attorneys and legal assistants. The Immigration Attorney will handle various immigration matters, including removal proceedings, family-based petitions, and humanitarian cases, while presenting strategic solutions and providing expert legal analysis.

Duties:

  • Report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and manage an assigned caseload.
  • Collaborate with the Immigration Team, including attorneys and legal assistants.
  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration application packets as needed.
  • Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients and determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits and implications for clients' cases.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and policies.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven track record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of legal professionals.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic legal solutions and prepare clients for court and USCIS testimonies.
  • Experience with case management software and other legal technologies.
