Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an associate attorney to join its Long-Term Care/Health Care team. This position will involve providing counsel on regulatory and risk-management issues such as licensing, survey and certification, contract reviews, compliance, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and CON matters. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for health care law, but prior experience in this field is not required. This opportunity offers the chance to develop expertise in the dynamic field of health care law.

Location:

  • Hartford, CT

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel in areas such as licensing, survey and certification, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and CON issues.
  • Maintain and build strong, lasting client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality service.
  • Actively participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives to help grow the health care practice.
  • Stay current on evolving health care laws and regulations, contributing to the firm's thought leadership.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
  • Maintain a minimum of 1,800 billable hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in corporate or litigation law; health care experience preferred.
  • Strong candidates with less experience who show a willingness to learn and a passion for health care law will be considered.
  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar required; ability to waive into other jurisdictions preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school, active member in good standing of the bar.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills for prioritizing workload.
  • Ability to absorb and process new information quickly.
  • High standards of performance, conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and responsibility.
  • Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work well with diverse personalities at all levels of the organization.
  • Military experience welcome.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar required.
  • Ability to waive into other jurisdictions is preferred.
