Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent developers, lenders, landlords, and community associations in legal matters.
  • Handle commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, purchase, financing, and leasing.
  • Assist with forming, registering, governing, and complying community associations for residential, commercial, and mixed-use condominiums.
  • Review, analyze, negotiate, and draft agreements, deeds, loan documents, leases, declarations, and covenants.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure timely closings and adherence to milestones.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and perseverance in all tasks.
  • Provide specialized training for boards of directors, committees, and managers on community association law and governance.
  • Actively participate in the community associations industry, including involvement in organizations such as the Community Associations Institute (CAI), teaching at chapter events, and contributing articles to relevant publications.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in community association law.
  • Licensing: Active license to practice law in Virginia.
  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Industry Involvement: Active participation in the community associations industry.
