A law firm in White Plains, NY, is seeking an Insurance Defense Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience in general liability defense litigation. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload from inception to resolution under the oversight of partners while gaining valuable litigation experience.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of general liability defense matters, including construction accidents, property damage, and premises liability cases.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop legal strategies and enhance litigation skills.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and motions.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Attend hearings, inspections, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and drafting trial briefs.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 1-3 years of experience in general liability defense litigation.
  • Experience in construction liability, labor law, and premises liability cases.
  • Specific experience with construction accidents, property damage, and premises liability.
  • Strong research, writing, and deposition skills.
  • Experience with not-for-profits and/or Child Victim Act cases is a plus.
  • Must be admitted to the New York State Bar.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
  • Strong trial preparation skills, including deposition experience.
  • Familiarity with construction liability and labor law.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
