Duties:

  • Evaluate potential government takings claims and provide legal advice to prospective clients.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, litigation, and other legal proceedings to obtain compensation for losses.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents; conduct thorough legal research and collect relevant evidence.
  • Analyze and interpret maps, real property documents, and instruments of conveyance.
  • Conduct real estate title examinations as necessary.
  • Manage case files, ensuring regular updates and proper handling by the support team.
  • Negotiate settlement agreements to secure favorable outcomes for clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state.
  • Eligible for admission to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in real estate transactions, real property litigation, and/or government takings.
  • Strong knowledge of government takings law, real property law, and federal constitutional law.
  • Excellent legal drafting, research, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for case-related matters.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (required).
  • Eligible for admission to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims (required).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in real property law and federal constitutional law.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret legal documents, maps, and property conveyance instruments.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and supervise a legal support team.
  • Exceptional negotiation and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred, but not required).
