Land Use And Zoning Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Miami, FL is looking to bring on board a seasoned legal professional with in-depth experience in zoning regulations, development permitting, and municipal land use matters. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who thrives on navigating complex local government processes and providing strategic legal solutions to support real estate development and urban planning efforts. This position is offered through a legal recruiting agency on behalf of the hiring firm.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on legal frameworks governing land development and property use

  • Represent clients before local boards, city and county commissions, and other regulatory bodies

  • Prepare and submit zoning applications, development proposals, and related documentation

  • Analyze and interpret zoning codes, comprehensive plans, and land development regulations

  • Collaborate with planners, architects, engineers, and municipal stakeholders to support project approvals

  • Draft and negotiate land use agreements and development-related contracts

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting local land use policies

  • Participate in public hearings and community engagement processes

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on legal experience in land use, zoning, and development permitting

  • Familiarity with local government procedures in Miami-Dade, Broward, and/or Palm Beach Counties

  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills in administrative and quasi-judicial settings

  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Admission to The Florida Bar is preferred, or eligibility and willingness to obtain admission

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Florida Bar membership is strongly preferred

  • Candidates not yet admitted must demonstrate readiness to pursue Florida Bar admission

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of land development regulations and municipal zoning processes

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical capabilities

  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships

  • Comfort working with cross-disciplinary professionals and public sector entities
