Job Overview:
A growing immigration law firm is seeking a full-time Immigration Attorney to handle a variety of general immigration matters, including custody orders for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and development, including paid CLEs and networking opportunities. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in immigration law, particularly in removal defense, SIJS, U & T visas, VAWA, and waivers. Virginia Bar admission is required, and the position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with up to two days working remotely each week.

Location:

  • Manassas, VA

Duties:

  • Handle general immigration matters, including removal defense, SIJS cases, U & T visas, VAWA, and waivers.
  • Represent clients before USCIS, EOIR, Circuit Courts of Appeal, DOL, and DOS.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare briefs, and draft declarations.
  • Provide client advocacy through both written communication and court appearances.
  • Assist with casework and collaborate with colleagues and administrative support staff.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including paid CLEs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable immigration laws and regulations.
  • Manage a caseload and maintain timely communication with clients.

Requirements:

  • Active Virginia Bar license.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Ideally, 1+ year of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense, SIJS, U & T visas, VAWA, and waivers (training available for candidates with less experience).
  • Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
  • Enthusiastic about appearing in court and advocating for clients.
  • Excellent research, writing, and case preparation skills.
  • Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for immigration law and helping clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Virginia Bar membership.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law, including removal defense, SIJS, and related visa types.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to effectively advocate for clients in court and other legal proceedings.
