Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join its Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax credit and community development projects, particularly representing developers, syndicators, and/or direct investors in related transactions. This position offers an opportunity to work on a diverse range of tax credit projects, including Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits, and energy-related tax credits, as well as community development and real estate matters.

Duties

  • Work on a wide range of tax credit and community development projects.
  • Represent clients such as developers, syndicators, and direct investors in tax credit-related transactions.
  • Provide legal support on projects involving Federal and State Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits, and energy-related tax credits.
  • Engage in non-tax credit-related community development and real estate projects.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to ensure the successful completion of transactions.
  • Perform legal research, draft documents, and provide legal analysis on various projects.
  • Assist in managing and overseeing the progression of ongoing projects.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in tax credit and community development law.
  • Prior experience in law firm settings, preferably with expertise in affordable housing, tax credit transactions, and community development.
  • Experience in representing developers, syndicators, and direct investors.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent client service skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Expertise in tax credit law and community development projects.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and clients effectively.
