A law firm in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a highly skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in immigration law and will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of immigration professionals. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong ability to handle both detained and non-detained cases, prepare various immigration applications, and provide expert legal analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Managing Immigration Attorney.
  • Manage and prioritize a substantial caseload of immigration cases.
  • Conduct intakes and visit detained individuals at immigration centers.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and review a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS applications.
  • Provide legal analysis and develop strategies for clients, including preparing clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Present and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Engage in strategic immigration consultations with potential clients and develop appropriate case strategies.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, providing support and collaborating with fellow associates and legal assistants.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in immigration law, with a proven track record of managing and advancing legal cases.
  • Strong experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review), detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Arizona or the ability to obtain admission.
  • Relevant certifications or continuing education in immigration law preferred.
