Job Overview: A law firm located in Austin, TX is seeking a highly skilled Corporate/Employment Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in employment law, with a strong emphasis on advising clients, drafting essential documents, and handling compliance issues. This role requires a dedicated professional with excellent academic credentials and a proven track record in employment law.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on a broad range of employment-related compliance issues, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, immigration matters, union relations, collective bargaining, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, including employment contracts, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants.
  • Provide guidance on reductions-in-force, WARN Act compliance, and related issues.
  • Conduct employment-related due diligence and manage employment-related representations and warranties in transaction documents.
  • Develop and update employment policies and handbooks to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients to address employment law concerns and devise strategic solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law trends and changes to offer informed legal advice.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in employment law, specifically at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advising on employment-related compliance, including but not limited to worker classification, wage and hour laws, immigration, union matters, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating employment agreements, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants.
  • Experience with employment-related diligence and handling employment-related representations and warranties in transaction documents is highly desirable.
  • Membership in good standing with the TX Bar or eligibility to waive into the TX Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials are required.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the TX Bar or eligibility to waive into the TX Bar.
