Job Overview:
A leading law firm is recruiting a highly skilled Patent Agent to join its expanding Intellectual Property group. This role will provide an exciting opportunity to be involved in all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, focusing on electrical engineering, software, and computer science technologies. Successful candidates will have experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, with a preference for those with expertise in AI and machine learning technologies. Location:

• Washington, DC

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the fields of electrical engineering, software, computer science, and related technologies
• Draft patent claims, specifications, and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and devise effective patent strategies
• Provide counsel on patentability, portfolio management, and IP strategy
• Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
• Work in a team-oriented environment to deliver high-quality service to clients

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related fields
• Experience with AI and machine learning patent applications preferred
• Admission to practice before the USPTO required
• Collaborative, client-focused mindset with a team-oriented approach
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field

Certifications:

• Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
