A prominent law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with a strong background in Immigration law and a focus on Post-Conviction Relief (PCR) matters. This position offers the unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team handling complex cases that combine criminal defense and immigration law. While the role is primarily focused on PCR cases, candidates with expertise in immigration law are encouraged to apply, as immigration-related issues often intersect with PCR matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert legal counsel on post-conviction relief matters, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation.
• Manage a caseload of post-conviction relief cases, with potential immigration implications.
• Represent clients at hearings and guide case strategy following hearings.
• Handle criminal cases such as arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing as required.
• Assess and advise on the impact of criminal convictions on clients' immigration status.
• Collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff across both criminal and immigration practice areas.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft motions related to post-conviction relief.

Requirements:

• California State Bar license required.
• Experience in criminal defense or immigration law, with an emphasis on post-conviction relief (PCR), preferred.
• Proven ability to handle a high caseload and work independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
• Experience in criminal law at the state and local level preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active and valid license to practice law in the State of California.
