A law firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced Employment and Benefits Counsel with 9 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with corporate clients on M&A transactions, executive compensation, and related employment and benefits matters. Superior academic credentials and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required for this role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and strategic guidance to corporate clients on employment law issues related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • Advise on executive compensation matters, including equity and incentive compensation plans.
  • Draft and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, and executive compensation packages.
  • Counsel clients on employee benefits plans, including retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and compliance with ERISA and other regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and stay abreast of developments in employment and benefits law.
  • Assist in due diligence reviews and integration planning for corporate transactions.

 

Requirements:

  • 9 years of experience practicing law with a focus on employment law, executive compensation, and employee benefits.
  • Proven experience advising corporate clients on M&A transactions and related employment issues.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility to waive in.

 

Education and Certifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of employment law, executive compensation, and employee benefits regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build client relationships.
