A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an experienced Regulations, Investigations, Securities, and Compliance Lawyer with expertise in U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), customs (including tariffs), and other international trade-related regulations. The role requires proficiency in counseling, training, licensing, opinion work, filings, compliance audits, internal investigations, responding to government enforcement actions, and developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures. Knowledge of investigations such as FCPA and national security matters like CFIUS is advantageous.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs, and international trade regulations.
  • Conduct compliance audits and internal investigations related to regulatory matters.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce compliance policies and procedures tailored to client needs.
  • Handle licensing applications, regulatory filings, and preparation of opinion letters.
  • Represent clients in responding to government inquiries, audits, and enforcement actions.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and advise clients accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier U.S. law school.
  • Active membership in the District of Columbia Bar.
  • Strong academic credentials with a focus on regulatory law.
  • Prior experience in a large law firm environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance matters, including investigations and national security reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), customs, and international trade regulations.
