Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a passionate and motivated Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in law to join its Family Law team. This role offers the opportunity to transition into or grow within Family Law, working directly under the mentorship of a Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS). The ideal candidate will work closely with clients, providing high-quality legal representation in a supportive, collaborative environment. This position offers the chance to grow professionally while contributing to meaningful family law cases. Compensation is competitive and based on experience and billable hours.

Location:

Duties:

  • Work directly with clients from case initiation to resolution.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and case preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Handle court appearances in Los Angeles and Ventura Superior Courts.
  • Manage discovery processes and maintain client communications.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex family law cases.
  • Assist in preparing financial support calculations (child and spousal support).
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction through effective communication.
  • Participate in firm meetings and contribute to firm-wide strategy discussions.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in any area of law (family law experience is a plus but not required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research, document drafting, and case preparation.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and manage a demanding caseload.
  • Must be able to appear in person at LA and Ventura Superior Courts (Chatsworth, Van Nuys, Pasadena, DTLA, Ventura).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a passion for family law.
  • Must be able to commute to the Woodland Hills, CA office.

Education:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active California State Bar membership.

Certifications:

  • California State Bar License (Required)

Skills:

  • Experience with judicial council forms and discovery procedures is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Clio Case Management and Billing software, and PDF software.
  • Knowledge of family law practices, particularly child and spousal support calculations, is a plus.
  • Strong legal writing and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of client interaction, requiring professionalism and empathy.
