A law firm in Palo Alto is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The associate will play a key role in patent litigation, working with a diverse range of clients from start-ups to multibillion-dollar corporations. This role involves engaging in all aspects of client relationships, from understanding client technology to providing strategic counseling. A background in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, applied math, or a related discipline is preferred, along with experience in federal court litigation.

Duties:

  • Serve as an integral member of patent litigation teams, advising clients across various stages of development.
  • Engage in all phases of client relationships, including understanding client technology and providing strategic legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with attorneys from other practice groups to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Participate in patent litigation activities including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies and case preparation.
  • Assist in managing patent disputes in federal court and other forums.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on complex legal issues to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in patent litigation, with a preference for federal court experience.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent verbal, written, research, and interpersonal skills.
  • Preference for candidates with knowledge in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, applied math, or similar disciplines.
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation matters and collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction (CA).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of patent litigation processes and federal court procedures.
  • Strong understanding of technology and intellectual property law.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
