Job Overview

A law firm seeks an entry-level Associate Attorney to join its team, specializing in estate planning and elder law. The successful candidate will assist with managing cases, drafting legal documents, and maintaining strong client relationships. Duties

  • Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and special needs plans.
  • Organize and manage case files, ensuring all deadlines are met and actions are properly documented.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, updating them on case progress and next steps.
  • Assist with document execution, including scheduling client appointments and preparing necessary materials.
  • Prepare and file deeds, advance directives, and other necessary legal documents.
  • Coordinate with clients, attorneys, and external providers to verify outstanding cash balances.
  • Perform legal research to support cases and stay informed on relevant legal developments.
  • Assist with court appearances and document filings at the court or County Clerk’s office, as required.
  • Use legal management software to maintain case information and workflow.

Requirements

  • Experience or interest in estate planning, elder law, and special needs planning.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a legal team.
  • Familiarity with legal software like Hot Docs and Time Matters is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in New York is required.
