A law firm seeks a dedicated Trial & Appellate Attorney to join its team in Manhattan, NY. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in foreclosure litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in legal research, motion drafting, and case preparation, with the ability to manage client communication and handle complex litigation matters.

Duties:

  • Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, monitor deadlines, and keep client databases up to date.
  • Document Drafting: Draft pleadings, motion papers, memoranda, demands, and notices to ensure thorough legal representation.
  • Trial Preparation: Prepare for trial by conducting legal research, analyzing case details, and assembling trial notebooks.
  • Client Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progression and associated costs.
  • Settlement Negotiation: Strategize and negotiate civil dispute settlements to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Billable Hours: Independently track and ensure the accurate capture of expected billable hours for each case.
  • Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research to support trial strategies and case development.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to New York State Courts (required).
  • Ability to obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months of employment.
  • 1-2 years of experience in drafting motion papers, pleadings, or similar legal documents.
  • Internship/Externship experience in litigation is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of legal procedures and trial court rules.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with modern software and database management tools.
  • Punctuality in work performance, attendance, and court appearances.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to New York State Courts (required).
  • Must obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months.
