Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will handle a diverse range of workers' compensation claims, including file review, legal analysis, and litigation. This role requires strong writing and research skills, as well as the ability to manage a high caseload, represent clients effectively, and prepare for trials. The ideal candidate will be admitted to practice in New York and possess a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties:

• Conduct file reviews and legal analysis of workers' compensation claims.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft client correspondence, discovery devices, summations, appeals, and appellate briefs.
• Regularly represent clients at depositions and hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.
• Prepare for and attend trials, including developing trial strategies and presenting cases.
• Retain and evaluate expert witnesses as needed.
• Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1950 hours.
• Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries from clients and colleagues.
• Demonstrate strong client skills and a professional telephone manner.

Requirements:

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of New York; admission in additional states is a plus.
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably with a focus on workers' compensation.
• Exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid research skills and strong written and oral communication capabilities.
• Ability to self-manage a high caseload while working effectively in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting the annual billable hour requirement.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in New York; admission to additional states is advantageous.
