The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in jury trials, depositions, and complex motion practice. This role requires overseeing support staff, developing strategic litigation plans, and representing clients effectively in both state and federal courts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of at least 40 employment litigation cases with precision and attention to detail.
  • Supervise dedicated support staff to ensure seamless case operations.
  • Analyze complex legal scenarios and develop strategic plans to address clients' needs.
  • Direct litigation strategies and represent clients in West Virginia's circuit court and federal court.
  • Draft detailed legal documents and conduct comprehensive legal research.
  • Conduct depositions, mediations, and serve as lead counsel in trials and arbitrations.
  • Communicate effectively during high-pressure situations and manage emotions with confidence.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of employment laws and procedures.
  • Handle difficult or negative situations with patience and diplomacy.
  • Travel throughout the state for mediations and depositions as required.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as first chair in jury trials.
  • Licensed to practice law in West Virginia; Ohio licensure preferred.
  • Comfortable using technology in legal practice.
  • Strong inclination to assist clients during challenging times and enhance their circumstances.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to think quickly on their feet.
  • Confidence and poise in a courtroom setting.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
