Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Counsel to join its renowned Employment & Labor practice. This position requires at least six years of experience in counseling and defending employers in various employment-related matters, including both single-plaintiff and class/collective actions. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research and writing skills, along with experience in drafting employment-related documents and representing clients in complex litigation. The candidate must be capable of handling a high level of responsibility while managing multiple priorities.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Counsel and defend employers in single-plaintiff employment cases and class/collective actions, including wage and hour cases and claims of unfair employment practices.
  • Advise employers on various employment matters, such as discipline/discharge, discrimination/harassment, restrictive covenants, ADA/FMLA compliance, and wage and hour issues.
  • Take and defend depositions, manage written discovery, and draft and argue motions.
  • Draft complex class and collective certification opposition briefs.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, position statements, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on employment law matters.
  • Manage client engagements and oversee multiple priorities efficiently.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in employment law, with experience in defending both single-plaintiff and class/collective actions.
  • Experience advising on employment law issues including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, and compliance with ADA/FMLA.
  • Proven ability to draft and review complex legal documents, including employment agreements, handbooks, and compliance statements.
  • Strong skills in legal research, motion drafting, and depositions.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritize various responsibilities effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with superior analytical and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the state bar (California preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law and related litigation.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in managing client relationships and handling complex legal matters.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
