Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bankruptcy & Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Wilmington, Delaware office. This role offers exposure to a wide range of bankruptcy, insolvency, and commercial litigation matters involving regional, national, and international clients across industries such as finance, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant litigation experience, strong familiarity with federal bankruptcy law, and a proactive, client-focused approach.

Location

  • Wilmington, DE

Duties

  • Handle Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases

  • Represent clients in business reorganizations, adversary proceedings, and contested matters

  • Advise on creditors’ and debtors’ rights in bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings

  • Manage commercial litigation cases in both state and federal courts

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs

  • Participate in discovery, depositions, hearings, and trials

  • Maintain regular communication with clients and provide strategic litigation counsel

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in business and commercial litigation

  • Hands-on experience with bankruptcy law, including case management and court appearances

  • Familiarity with Delaware Chancery Court practice and local rules

  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines efficiently

  • Strong professional judgment and litigation strategy skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the Delaware Bar (required)

  • Admission to other U.S. jurisdictions is a plus, but not a substitute for Delaware admission

Skills

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • In-depth knowledge of federal bankruptcy law and Delaware court procedures
