Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm is seeking an Associate with 2-3 years of construction law experience to join its Real Estate Group. The ideal candidate will provide both transactional and litigation support across various sectors of construction and development work. Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating construction agreements, providing strategic advice on claims management, and assisting with construction-related litigation and arbitration matters. Familiarity with industry form agreements such as AIA is essential. Prior litigation or arbitration experience is preferred but not required.

Location:

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements across various industry sectors.
  • Negotiate EPC contracts for large infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Provide strategic advice on claims management, including issues such as change orders, extra work claims, delays, and construction defects.
  • Assist with construction-related litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and preparing for depositions, mediations, and hearings/trials.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to support clients through all phases of construction projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction contracting and related development work.
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate construction and development agreements.
  • Experience advising clients on construction-related disputes, including claims management, change orders, and construction defects.
  • Familiarity with industry form agreements (e.g., AIA).
  • Prior experience with litigation or arbitration in the construction sector is preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate will be working.
