Job Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its nationally recognized Life Sciences Partnering & Licensing practice. This role is ideal for attorneys with 3–6 years of experience advising life sciences companies on strategic commercial transactions, including licensing and collaboration agreements. The position offers a dynamic environment with opportunities to support clients across the biotech, medtech, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Location

  • San Diego, CA

Duties

  • Structure, negotiate, and draft a variety of strategic commercial agreements, including:

    • Licensing agreements

    • Collaboration agreements

    • Development and supply agreements

    • Co-commercialization arrangements

  • Advise clients in the life sciences industry on complex legal and business issues

  • Coordinate with internal teams across IP, corporate, and regulatory practices

  • Support cross-border and multi-party transactions involving biotech and pharma companies

  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory developments, and deal terms

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department

  • Strong background in life sciences transactions

  • Experience handling licensing, strategic alliances, and other commercial contracts

  • Familiarity with corporate or intellectual property matters related to life sciences

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client matters efficiently

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar

  • Eligibility to become admitted in the state of practice location, if not already licensed

Skills

  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills

  • Strong understanding of intellectual property concepts in the life sciences context

  • Client-focused approach with outstanding communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage high volumes of work under deadlines
