Job Overview: A dynamic law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to provide legal representation in immigration matters, including removal defense and family-based immigration cases. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on clients' lives through expert legal counsel, case management, and representation in various immigration proceedings. The attorney will also oversee legal staff and work closely with administrative teams to manage case strategies.

Location:

  • Glendale, CA

Duties:

  • Represent clients in immigration matters before the Executive Office of Immigration Review, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and CA state courts.
  • Manage a caseload involving removal defense, asylum applications, withholding of removal, and adjustment of status cases.
  • Prepare and litigate cases involving relief from removal, including VAWA, U-Visas, family petitions, and waivers.
  • Conduct legal research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions.
  • Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff.
  • Counsel clients by assessing options and determining the best strategies for case success.
  • Work closely with administrative staff on client billing, case strategy, and case finalization.
  • Engage with clients regularly to provide updates on case progress and strategize for favorable outcomes.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the role evolves.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in immigration law, focusing on cases such as VAWA, U-Visas, Naturalization, and Family-Based petitions.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) and active bar license in any state.
  • Fluent in English and Russian (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple cases.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research platforms such as Westlaw and Lexis.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and active insurance policy (required for travel to hearings and client meetings).

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in any U.S. state.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar License.

Skills:

  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with legal research software (Westlaw, Lexis).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership abilities to manage and guide legal staff.
  • Decision-making, public speaking, and problem-solving expertise.
  • Multilingual capabilities (fluency in Russian preferred).
