Job Overview:

A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Senior Environmental Litigation Attorney with 7-10 years of experience to join its team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience representing clients on environmental regulatory defense and administrative enforcement matters, including CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and related California statutes. This role requires high academic achievement, excellent advocacy and writing skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in environmental litigation and regulatory matters, including defense and administrative enforcement actions.
  • Provide expert legal counsel on issues arising under CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and related California statutes.
  • Engage in complex legal research and drafting of legal documents, including motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop effective litigation strategies and solutions.
  • Attend and represent clients at hearings, trials, and negotiations.
  • Provide transactional counseling related to environmental issues as needed.
  • Stay informed about changes in environmental laws and regulations to provide up-to-date advice.

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in environmental litigation and regulatory defense.
  • Proven experience with CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and related California statutes.
  • Strong experience in transactional counseling is a plus.
  • Excellent oral advocacy, analytical, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

  • Expertise in environmental law and regulatory defense.
  • Advanced legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues and provide strategic counsel.
