Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm is seeking a mid-level/senior associate to join its Real Estate and Land Use group in Chicago. This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of real estate law matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, financings, leasing, zoning, land use, and asset management. The ideal candidate will be motivated and curious, eager to contribute to a collaborative team of professionals supporting diverse clients such as institutional investors, developers, private equity investors, health systems, renewable energy companies, franchise organizations, and more.

Location:

  • Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

  • Handle commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and leasing.
  • Provide legal support on zoning, land use, and asset management issues.
  • Work with clients ranging from institutional investors and lenders to developers and start-ups.
  • Collaborate with a team of real estate professionals on various projects.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Contribute to the professional development of junior team members.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial real estate law.
  • Strong understanding of real estate transactions, zoning, land use, and asset management.
  • Experience in handling complex transactions involving sophisticated clients.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar (Illinois preferred, but not required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisitions, and dispositions.
  • Knowledge of zoning and land use regulations.
  • Strong client management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
