Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking a highly skilled mid-level associate for its growing Personal & Succession Planning practice. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex estate planning matters for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, business succession planning, and charitable giving strategies. Location:

  • Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

  • Draft and review estate planning documents for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Advise clients on succession planning for businesses, private trust companies, and family offices.
  • Develop strategies for charitable giving, including private foundations.
  • Collaborate with other practice groups across the firm to provide integrated legal services.
  • Manage client relationships and work effectively with colleagues.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior associates.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, business succession planning, or charitable giving.
  • Strong drafting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An LL.M. in Taxation is a plus, but not required.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in estate planning, business succession, and charitable giving strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
