Job Overview:
A growing law firm is seeking an entrepreneurial Associate Attorney to help build and grow a practice in a new geographic area or practice area not currently covered by the firm. The ideal candidate is an experienced attorney with a proven track record of building a book of business, thrives in a team-oriented environment, and is dedicated to providing high-quality legal representation. This position offers an opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team while contributing to the firm’s overall litigation and transactional growth.

Location:

  • Newark, Ohio

Duties:

  • Represent clients in specific geographic areas or practice areas with the support of a multi-faceted team.
  • Develop matter budgets, project service value, and communicate the financial obligations of the client.
  • Communicate clearly with clients about the financial obligations involved in engaging the firm’s services.
  • For litigators, represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and trials.
  • Manage legal matters with a paralegal team, ensuring thorough documentation, strategic planning, and execution.
  • Negotiate and pursue favorable outcomes for clients through settlement, mediation, and litigation as necessary.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary professionals such as CPAs, social workers, and mental health experts.
  • Engage in business development activities, networking, and marketing to grow the firm’s practices.

Requirements:

  • JD and admission to the Ohio Bar (required).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of litigation experience.
  • Track record of business development and community engagement.
  • Ability to manage high-stress situations and organize a legal practice efficiently.
  • Strong leadership, time, and task management skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for hearings and trials.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Ohio State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in case management systems and remote collaboration tools.
