I worked with a different recruiter before I worked with BCG Attorney Search, and the difference was like night and day. My recruiter was very responsive to any questions I had, always calling me back within hours if I left a voicemail. Moreover, his knowledge of the market in the Bay Area for lateral associates was nothing short of impressive. He gave me his assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of the practices at the various law firms, which my interviews confirmed. He also gave me insight into the cultures of the different firms and where I might find the best fit. After each interview, my recruiter provided me with solid feedback of my performance, including my strengths and weaknesses, it was invaluable. When I contacted my recruiter in Chicago I said that I wasn't even sure if I wanted to stay in the law. My recruiter was very understanding. There was no coercion, but my recruiter said this is what I have on the table at the moment, these are the firms and this is what they are like. They pointed out that it didn't have to be as it was at my previous firm. My recruiter was very familiar with the Chicago market, and they knew lots of information about the firms that were suggested to me. The pace was pretty fast, all in all, about 3 weeks from discussion to offer. Ultimately, I took an offer and, at the 6 month point, it's exactly as it was described.
