What should one do when their personal health is a distraction from their job?
There is nothing wrong with having health problems. Certainly lots of people have health problems. I've heard of a lot of people in New York coming down with various things from working in office buildings all the time. But, if your health is a distraction from your job, then the best you can do a lot of times is you can talk to the firm about it and you can go on a reduced hour arrangement. There's nothing wrong with that.
I think taking a lot of vacation could cause problems. But you do need to take care of your health and I talked a little bit today about things like spirituality and exercise. Keeping your mind clear, I think is one of the most important things you can do, and your health is very important. If you have health problems, I recommend talking to your firm. And perhaps you've been trying to find a job where they can help you with that. Or, the other option of course, is taking time off for your health problems. There is the family medical leave act, which, if you work for a certain sized firm, they have to leave your job open if you leave to take care of health problems. And there are all sorts of health problems people have. Regardless of what it is, you are entitled to get sick and come back strong.
