No, and that's a good point. Sometimes you'll list when you were a summer associate, if you were a summer associate, and then you list associate from the second you graduate from law school and you start at the firm. So if you start in, September and you're still waiting for your bar results until November, you just list associate. That's all. That's all you need to say.
People typically don't change it really. You're hired as associate not as a law clerk, you're paid as an associate, not as a law clerk. That's how I recommend doing it. But if you're a summer associate, just put the dates of summer associate.
